I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Village House in Sarawak, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled in a serene, lush setting, this charming retreat perfectly blends rustic authenticity with modern comfort, offering a peaceful escape that captures the heart of Sarawak’s cultural heritage.
The Village House itself is a gem—beautifully designed with traditional elements that reflect the local Iban and Malay influences, yet equipped with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean, cozy, and thoughtfully appointed, with stunning views of the surrounding greenery. The communal areas, including the tranquil courtyard and inviting dining space, created a warm, homely atmosphere that made me feel instantly at ease.
What truly sets the Village House apart, however, is its exceptional staff. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that made me feel like part of the family. The team went above and beyond to ensure every detail of my stay was perfect, from arranging local tours to sharing fascinating insights about Sarawak’s culture and history. If you’re looking for a place to truly unwind for a few days, this is it. The Village House offers the perfect mix of peace, comfort, and good food. The kitchen and bar are excellent (just a tip: pre-order your dinner around midday, otherwise you might miss out).||What really makes this place special is the staff. They go above and beyond to make sure you feel at home. The service level is outstanding, and they’re more than happy to help arrange activities for you. It’s also a great base to explore nearby highlights such as Bako National Park, Semenggoh Nature Reserve, the mangrove tours, and even Kuching itself. Thanks to their help, we were lucky enough to see orangutans, proboscis monkeys, dolphins, and even crocodiles.||Do note: renting a small car or scooter is highly recommended, as the guesthouse is a bit out of the way. The team can assist with rentals, and driving here is easy. The traffic is calm and very manageable.||A big thank you to the entire team of The Village House, and especially Mr. Rubaini, for making our stay such a memorable one. We left feeling very grateful.

Séjour d’exception dans un cadre très reposant et agréable. À 10 minutes de la Rain Forest, nous avons pu profiter de ce petit havre de paix pour nous détendre dans la piscine. Les chambres sont climatisées et très propres. Le personnel est à nos soins et très sympathique. La nourriture est de type snack mais très correcte. On a vraiment beaucoup aimé ce logement !

The accommodation looks really good, the staff is wonderful and helpful, it was nice to meet the turtle Jamal as well. Unfortunately we were in 2 rooms just above the eating area and although breakfast was schedule from 07:30 onwards we were already woken up by a group starting breakfast between 06:00 and 06:30 as they were heading out to Bako Park, so this was a real bummer. Also the rooms have thin walls and you can hear anything being said below, they better relocate those rooms, it was really annoying. Breakfast itself needs improvement, they have only 3 choices and number 2 pancakes was not even available. The staff tried to help as much as possible by they were limited by resources as well, The hotel management should really improve, We were used to breakfast buffet as in Damai Beach which has a so much better choice of food, definitely something the Village House should improve on. I must say however the staff provide our youngest child a special breakfast on our request with he really like that the standard choices, so thanks guys for that. I summary , the accommodation is quite good, dinner choice is limited as well, but we ate outside, once local and once to Escobar near Damai Beach which is a really nice place to go out and eat. If the Village House would dramatically improve on their breakfast to a buffet style with Laksa and Kolo Mee, and no longer provide the noisy rooms, we would really want to come back

Extraordinaire hôtel dans un magnifique cadre tropical verdoyant |. Hôtel de style architectural traditionnel malaisien sur pilotis. Très belle piscine. Petit-déjeuner et repas au bord de la piscine. Encore plus beau de nuit. Décoration avec des antiquités Tout a été étudié avec soins| Belle chambre traditionnelle avec une bonne literie. Le personnel est exceptionnel, toujours au petit soin, d'une extrême gentillesse et très devoué. Les repas sont excellents.|Un havre de paix dans un endroit idyllique.

This place is heaven on earth! People are super friendly and helpfull. Its half an hour from Kuching but if you want to relax: totally worth it!!! From there you can super easily do the Wetlands & Bako national Park tour.

from beginning to end my 3 night stay was amazing. Rubiani and Lynne are so welcoming, friendly and available. The environment is very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The rooms are very spacious, everything is professionally cleaned. There is ample outside relaxing lounges and seating. You can book tours through the Village house. I was made to feel extremely welcome, as a solo traveller. Breakfast was delicious and cooked fresh each morning, fantastic Sarawak brewed coffee. This is a 5 star stay. The pool was superb, large and cool.

This hotel is truly worth visiting. It's located in a stunning spot near the sea and in a charming village. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and every detail has been thoughtfully considered—compliments to the team! They also offer bike rentals, and they even provided a cycling route so you could explore the local highlights on your own. Very thoughtful and well organized. I really enjoyed my stay!
