Siniawan is always a lovely weekend trip from Kuching, only about 30 minutes away for my wife and me. Whenever we go, The Bikalan is our must-stop. Andy and Grace are now friends, and that personal touch makes every visit special.

The place combines the cosy feel of a UK pub with the warmth of a Dayak eatery. This comes through in the menu, which features local native food and drinks, all served by friendly Bidayuh staff from the area. Bars or eateries like this are exactly the kind you look for when travelling, the ones that give you an authentic feel of the town and leave you with lasting memories. The Bikalan is one of the best examples you will find and a great representation of Kuching’s charm.

Siniawan continues to grow and they've just recently completed the construction of a nice waterfront area. The annual Chap Goh Mei and Country Music Festival (end of September) are the town's biggest events.

Tip: If you are visiting at night, plan your transport back in advance. Alternatively, Andy, Grace or any of the team are always happy to help.

Welch ein herzlicher Empfang und eine freundliche Begrüßung. Wir wurden vom Inhaber persönlich begrüßt und es wurden Getränkeempfehlungen ausgesprochen. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und haben lecker gegessen und getrunken. Wir können diese Bar, in der es auch leckeres Essen gibt, sehr gut weiterempfehlen.

Great food & exceptional service!
The staff at The Bikalan went above and beyond when we couldn’t get a ride back to Kuching after dinner. Despite our failed attempts with Grab and Maxim, one kind employee personally called a driver to arrange our trip back to the hotel. The food was delicious, and the hospitality was outstanding—truly a place that cares about its customers. Highly recommend!😊🍽️

Delicious pansoh. Fresh Guinness, poured properly. Friendly and interesting family, running the place for six and a half years now. Relaxed surroundings, fair prices. Easy parking, in a cool and colourful neighbourhood.

If you ever stop by at Siniawan, then this is the place to check out! Besides the weekend night market, this bar serves the best cuisine both locally and Western. Met the owners and they were very nice and friendly. Safe to say this is one of (If not) the best bars in town. The nighttime atmosphere here is just mesmerising. There were a lot of crowds as this place is pretty well known among locals and tourists alike. Will come back again soon! 10/10. 😄
