老井是文青cafe。也是年轻人喜欢来看书或者聚会的cafe。食物不错，价格公道，而且这里有vegetarian menu(no garlic and onions).

This is one of the best Mee Hoon Kway I have ever had. Period.

Located in Kluang, the cafe is a bit difficult to locate. Look for the signboard that say PLT Institute/Cafe Lao Jing (see photo). Go to the third storey (ground floor, first floor, second floor). Open the door and you’ll see a cafe that looks more like a kindergarten or library.

Their Mee Hoon Kway really checks all my boxes. Hand torn and not cookie cutter cut in advance, they are pinched thinly and rather chewy. The soup is so full of umami flavours from yellow beans and ikan bilis. Crispy Ikan bilis floats on top with meat balls and fish cake. Most importantly, true to Malaysian tradition, they use sayur manis.

And their chilli. It’s made from green chilli to give the extra kick and just sour enough to work up your appetite. I wonder if they sell it by the bottle. Love to buy some.

The place was quiet when I arrived at 11.10am probably before the lunch crowd. Other items on the menu also looked interesting but their signature dishes Ah’s got to be their ban mian.

Strongly recommend to Mee Hoon Kway lovers.

Can be easy to miss this place as it is located upstairs. Chili pan mee was delicious! Good for gatherings and games are also available to play. Can be crowded during dinner.

Cafe had very chill vibes with great music of different genre. Awesome place to catch up with friends or just a date night.

Had the chili mee hoon kueh. Great texture and mouthfeel of the kueh. Chili was the bomb, full of umami. Ordered a side of the fried dumplings, was decent.

食物每次吃都不一样 时常跑水.. 每次请的服务人员都态度不好 我order的食物 等了很久 问了几次就说稍等 结果发现放在柜台没人看到？问服务员 没看见我的食物在柜台吗？食物都冷了 那位服务员小姐 不知道摆什么脸色 静静走了😅

Service was absolutely terrible. We placed an order for one hot latte and one iced latte. 15 minutes later, we were then shown two order sheets and asked which belongs to us. Then another 15 minutes later, we were told that there was no hot coffee. I then walked to the counter to speak to the Chinese speaking staff and was told that there was no coffee at all as the machine was faulty.

If there's no coffee, it would have been good to inform us at the start when we were ordering. If it was missed, it could have been told to her the first time the staff came over but that was not done. And when I found out that my partner and I wasted half an hour waiting for nothing, something could have been offered (apologies if nothing at all, but not even words of thanks for waiting nor apologies). Instead, the staff just gave a blank look. The staff attitude was poor and service was really below expectations. Horrendous and would not recommend.

到了咖啡店后，我们填写了点单然后坐着等我们的咖啡。等了15分钟后我们才被问了哪一个单子是我们的。服务员确认过后。我们又等了另外十分钟才被告知咖啡店没有咖啡。足足在店浪费了半个小时。

有点莫名其妙。店里没有任何海报说明这一点。服务员在拿菜单给我们的时候也没事先说明。

也想补充说一下咖啡店真的满不清洁的。
很多污渍和灰尘。
