*A Hidden Gem by the Sea*

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this Airbnb guest house, and I must say it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped inside, I was blown away by the thoughtful design and layout of the house. The decor was tasteful and modern, with plenty of natural light pouring in through the large windows.

But what truly made my stay special was the kindness and hospitality of the owner. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, and their communication was prompt and friendly.

The cleanliness of the house was impeccable, and the supplies were always well-stocked. I appreciated the attention to detail and the effort that went into making sure guests felt comfortable and at home.

Safety was also a top priority, and I felt secure and at ease throughout my stay.

But the pièce de résistance was the stunning sea view from the house. The large windows and balcony offered breathtaking views of the ocean, and I spent many happy hours simply gazing out at the waves.

Overall, I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway. The combination of great design, kind hospitality, cleanliness, safety, and stunning sea views makes it a truly special place. Five stars isn't enough – I'd give it ten stars if I could!

A Hidden Beachfront Gem – Smell Rose Beach Garden, Penang

We had the chance to enjoy a short yet memorable stay here at Smell Rose Beach Garden thanks to a USD100 Airbnb voucher we received as an Airbnb Superhost! Stayed from 9–10 June 2025, and honestly—this hidden gem surprised us in the best way.

First of all, the location is perfect—literally right by the beach at Tanjung Bungah. The moment you step out from the garden gate, your feet are on soft sand, with the calming sound of waves greeting you. It’s rare to find a place in Penang where the beach feels this close and this peaceful, away from the usual tourist crowds. The sea view from our Gold Room (Sea View Room) was truly relaxing—waking up to that view was one of the highlights of our stay.

What made it even better was the fact that the whole 4-room unit only had us staying that night—so it felt like a private seaside villa, even though this is a shared homestay concept. The design of the place deserves a mention—beautiful, rustic yet fresh with thoughtful touches everywhere: rose gardens, swings, cozy sitting corners under shady trees, and even a small Zen tea area. It almost felt like a mini secret garden beside the ocean.

The host was really welcoming and friendly—checked us in personally, gave helpful tips, and made sure we felt at home. The unit itself was very clean, well-maintained and fully equipped. Our Gold Room came with comfy bedding, air-conditioning, towels, and a clean private bathroom. Fast Wi-Fi and TV with Netflix-ready setup made our evening cozy after enjoying the beach.

In the morning, breakfast was simple but nice—roti sardin, nasi lemak and coffee, enough to start the day while enjoying the seaside breeze at the garden terrace.

Weekends might be a little livelier due to the nearby public beach, but on our Monday morning it was perfectly calm and quiet.

We truly enjoyed our stay—it felt like having a quiet beachfront retreat all to ourselves. The value for money here is unbeatable compared to many hotels or resorts in Penang, especially when you want direct beach access and peaceful surroundings.

Would definitely recommend Smell Rose Beach Garden to anyone looking for a charming, relaxing and affordable beachfront stay in Penang—whether you’re a couple, solo traveller, or small family wanting to escape city life for a while.

Smell Rose Beach Garden was one of the places I wanted to stay when I'm in Penang. A perfect place for families, couples and friends with a direct access to the Tanjung Bungah beach. The hosts were very thoughtful (even provide slippers), check in and out was easy. Room was clean and everything needed (toiletries, hairdryer) is provided. Kitchen is well equip with water dispenser, fridge, microwave oven, toaster, stove and cutleries. There are several rooms upstairs which you can also choose. The house can easily park 3 cars. Do bring mosquito repellent as there's many mosquitoes. Other that that, no complaints. So nice to hear the sound of the waves from our room.
Do note that this is a homestay/Airbnb. You will have to share the house with other guests unless you book the entire villa.

Lots of positives here. Great location, plenty of rooms. Each rooms have a bathroom and toilet.
Negatives: lots of mosquitoes. Could use more blankets, and wifi is slow. Overall if the negatives are fixed, will definitely come back and stay here.

I made a mistake of making a reservation at this hotel thinking it was near to an event I was planning to go. I cancelled it within an hour and managed to get my whole payment back. I'm so grateful with the kind owner. Will definitely stay here if I ever get the chance as it looks great in the picture

Perfect place. Just by the beach, has great sea view. Very tasteful interior and well-kept garden. The price is reasonable, or even cheap relative to the quality.
