My sister and I stayed 5 nights early June - it was my second stay and my sister’s sixth visit!||The bungalows are very comfortable and spacious. There is air con which was a godsend and a huge bathtub in front of the window - which was a little strange. There is plenty of storage and a fridge.||The convenience to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary and Sun Bear Sanctuary is unrivalled. Walking distance a stone’s throw. |We visited the Sanctuary every day to observe the feeding platform and every day there was different activity. The theme in early June was Mother and baby/infant both rehabilitated and wild! We also saw the alpha male Malin who popped along one morning and scared the cheeky baboons away.||Tip: bring a fan as you cannot bring food or drink. One visitor collapsed because of the heat. A fan will help keep you cool.||Restaurant: the open aired dining and the options are plentiful and excellent quality. The pizzas are delicious.||Cocktails are a must - they use fresh local produce including mint and the mixology is as good as London ! My sister and I tried many on the extensive list. ||We love staying here it’s like a home-coming for my sister. We saw some amazing water birds and a monitor lizard in the small lake. We also saw wild orangutans in the trees at the back of the lodge.||Tip: keep your eyes peeled - it’s a jungle out there!

We stopped here for a night between Sandakan and the river cruise part of our trip. Mainly so the next morning we were able to see the Orangutan and sun bears before heading off to the river lodge and trip.

Each room is a lodge chalet and well equipped. AC tea large walk in shower and even a stand a lone tub bath with a view over the jungle etc.

A good evening menu covering both western and local. Breakfast is a set menu, but very comprehensive. All the staff were very welcoming.

We hebben hier een fantastische tijd gehad. De accommodatie is super: het huisje is ruim en comfortabel, de bedden zijn uitstekend en de buitenbadkuipen waren heerlijk. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Wat dit verblijf extra bijzonder maakte, was dat we in het aangrenzende park Orang-Oetans hebben gezien – een van de mooiste momenten van onze reis.

Een paar verbeterpunten: het restaurant heeft beperkte openingstijden (ontbijt alleen tussen 8:00 en 9:00 uur), de porties bij het diner zijn klein en het duurt vrij lang. Daardoor hebben we meerdere keren buiten het resort gegeten. Ook is er geen zwembad op het terrein. Je kunt wel makkelijk terecht bij een zwembad vlakbij (tegen betaling), maar met de hitte mis je er hier echt één.

Als ze deze punten aanpakken, zou het verblijf helemaal perfect zijn.
