Back to nature. However need to have own transportation. Otherwise need to book grab or Maxim ahead to avoid long wait. Not really well developed, can see hornbill bird. Direction also not clear, there is a corner to have video intro for better explanations in cool aircond room.

Among place of interests in Miri. The environment is great. You need to park your car outside and register in front of the gate first. There is a gallery where you can learn about the history of a family of hornbills in Miri. Some information about nature in Sarawak especially Miri is also displayed here. The toilet is clean. You need to walk some hundred meters if you want to visit the hornbill nest. Should go here. Really relax during weekdays

쿠칭 시내에서 가까워요. '숲의 사람'인 오랑우탄을 이렇게 자연스럽게 가까이서 볼 수 있어서 너무 좋았어요.
쿠칭 시내에서 갈때는 K6 버스, 올때는 무료버스 103번, 오후4시30분 출발. 비가 와서인지 4시 48분정도에 왔어요..

Beautiful place where you can see hornbills. ENTRANCE IS FREE, you just write you name on visitor list, take visitor card and you can go. You can learn some informations about these amazing animals and also more about nature and national parks in Sarawak in tourist center with air conditioner, which is helpful in hot days. We had nice time here. We had lucky day and we saw 3 hornbills. Toilets are available near to entrance gate. But take enough water and small snack with you. The area is not large, 1 or 2 hours is enough. It's nice how owners trying to replanting jungle here, but when you read info about how much money they get from shell company as donation, it could be better. It's also not possible to go to beach from this area becouse there is many private boat clubs.

Entre gratuite . Pour une balade et avoir la chance de voir les Calao mais attention au Macaques ne vous approcher pas trop. Bref si vous êtres de passage à Miri .

For educational information, you could visit the center after 8am and is free of charge.
For hornbill sighting or a nice quiet walk, go early in the morning. Drive past the center (on the right), turn right at the next junction, turn right again to park. The "trails" are near the parking area.

This particular morning, we saw 3 Oriental Pied hornbills; one flying back and forth in the distance, and a couple perched on the tree (see photos). No matter how many times we have seen them in the wild, we are always grateful and in awe to see them courting and mating. I hope they will have more chicks soon!
Insect repellent is a must unless you want to provide breakfast buffet to the mozzies!

Detailed history and interesting presentation about the establishment of Piasau Nature Reserve. Breezy and windy. You may take a walk at the walking trail to meet Jimmy if you are lucky enough.
