Rooms are missing a mosquito net, which is essential in a jungle location. We paid 950RM/person to take a 2 days jungle trip, and our guide could not even speak a word of English and on the hike back (middle of the jungle) he would not wait for us, going at a very high pace.|Food is ok, location is good. Overpriced overall, much cheaper alternatives for the package in the area.

We love this place! The Mat Leon Village is a real family business run by Mat Leon since 13 years. We have been looking for the perfect nature experience and found it there. We stayed there for 3 nights and it was just perfect. ||The Mat Leon village is a 10 minutes’ walk from the commercial village away, it´s quiet and in the middle of nature. The Rooms are simple, but lovely and clean. The restaurant has awesome Malaysian dishes, it was so delicious we ate three times the day there. ||You have a lovely view over the river, the chicken chasing each other around the village and you can even jump in the river. Maybe you will be lucky to spot a leopard on the other side of the riverbank. ||We did the nighttour and the tour to the observation tower in the middle of the national park. Both was excellent. Each time we got Mat Leon as our Guide and he was fantastic! We felt save and have been impressed by all his knowledge. Both tours are a must-do!||If we come back to Malaysia we will definitely stay at Mat Leon Village again. Who looks for an ECO-Acommondation at it´s best, you will find it a Mat Leons Village

Stayed here with a friend in July. We had two nights here in one of the chalets without AC. The setting is quite beautiful because it's secluded. The accomodation is fairly basic but clean, and breakfast is included. Mat Leon is really helpful re:booking tours. It's a 15 minute walk into town, and if walking back after dinner you'll need a torch. There is plenty of accomodation in the town itself which looked decent.

Mat Leon Village is exactly as advertised. It's right on the river, Ahmed (Mat) the owner is a terrific guide. We brought our whole family - 7 people - we had 3 air con rooms overlooking the river. Mat gave us a guided tour of the jungle up a thousand steps! Well maybe not a thousand. The family really enjoyed the river trip and the visit to the native village. The food is excellent and the place is rustic but totally clean and an excellent bargain. All the family said that this was the best part of our trip to Malaysia.

We’ve had an awesome 2 days with our guide. We spent a night in an observatory and trekked. The guide has a great knowledge of the jungle, always helping and explaining things. The accommodation is 2mn by car from the main jetty (free shuttle), basic bungalow but very clean with everything your need. The restaurant is really good too.
Highly recommended!

Im Dezember 2014 hat der Monsun die Gegend offenbar stark geschädigt. Davon ist bei Mat Leon nichts mehr auf den ersten Blick zu erkennen. Allerdings riechen Die Matratzen stockig. Es ist wohl unvermeidbar, denn die Luftfeuchtigkeit im Dschungel ist immer sehr hoch. Wir hatten ein Chalet ohne Klimaanlage und ohne Warmwasser für 70 RM (14€). Es gibt auch klimatisierte Chalets für 90 RM. |Das Essen war gut. Zum Frühstück gab es Toast mit Marmelade, Kaffe und wenn gewünscht auch Rührei. Abends gab es verschiedene landestypische Menüs, wie Reis mit Huhn. Mat Leon und seine Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie fuhren auf Wunsch zu den Bootsanlegern im Dorf und zurück. Man kann von dort auch zu Fuß in 15Min zurückgelangen. Der Weg ist aber schlecht ausgeschildert.

Mat Leon è una delle migliori guide che abbiamo trovato in Malesia, molto riservato e poco chiaccherone ma veramente bravo a scovare gli animali di cui vi racconterà i segreti. I safari notturni e la passeggiata notturna sono fantastiche.||Le stanze (noi abbiamo preso i new chalet con AC) sono molto semplici e non sporche (ma neanche pulitissime), non ci sono armadi o mensole per appoggiare la valigia, cosa che a volte sarebbe utile vista la presenza di insetti vari. La "stanza" colazione è una baraccona senza pareti da cui si possono vedere il fiume e la fantastica foresta. ||La posizione del village è eccezionale perchè immersa nella foresta e con una vista spettacolare ma un pò scomoda per raggiungere il paese (cica 15-20 minuti a piedi) ma Mat vi fornirà il trasporto con la barca dal piccolo molo del paese.||Quindi nel complesso per me è stato un posto ottimo per poter vedere animali e vivere immersi nella foresta ma richiede di essere un pò elastici e spartani riguardo alla sistemazione.
