Tempat ini diselia oleh hotel. Ianya merupakan paya bakau yang terletak di antara kawasan kelapa sawit dan sungai. Cuma kena jaga-jaga sikit, sebab ketua Proboscis ni garang sikit. Haha. Tapi takde la kacau orang pun.

Labuk Bay offers an amazing opportunity to see proboscis monkeys. The feeding sessions are the highlight of these charismatic primates strut right onto the platforms.

The sanctuary is remote, and if you're driving yourself, the last stretch of road is very bumpy, prepare for some jostling.

If you don’t time your visit with one of the four daily feedings (9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:30 PM & 4:30 PM), you might not see much wildlife action.

If you drive your own car, consider going early and take your time on the gravel stretch. Alternatively, it's easier and less stressful to book a tour or rent a car.

Despite the price and remote location, Labuk Bay is one of the best places to see the rare proboscis monkeys up close. If you're a wildlife lover or photographer, it’s well worth the trip. Just plan ahead and don’t miss the feeding times.

Monkey Business in Borneo 🐒💛

Our trip to see the other stars of Borneo — the hilarious proboscis monkeys and the elegant silver leaf monkeys — was like stepping into a real-life jungle sitcom.

First, the proboscis monkeys — oh, those noses! The males sport comically large, droopy noses (the bigger, the more attractive to the ladies — who knew?!). And here’s the wild part: the dominant male gets his own harem of females, which he guards with the seriousness of a royal king… except when he’s lounging around like he’s in a monkey spa. These guys are excellent swimmers too — webbed feet and all — and love a good splash in the mangroves.

Then came the silver leaf monkeys, with their shiny grey coats and adorable mohawks. The babies? Bright orange at birth, looking like tiny tropical fireballs until they grow into their silver suits. Just like the proboscis monkeys, the silver leaf males also enjoy a harem life — one lucky male surrounded by many females and their young, all hanging out like a big, leafy family.

Watching both species interact was pure joy — playful chases, casual tree snacking, and plenty of cheeky glances. But beyond the laughs, we learned they’re both under threat from habitat loss. Protecting the forests means protecting these amazing, quirky characters.

Borneo’s monkeys reminded us that nature has both a sense of humor and a fragile beauty. 🐒🌿 Here’s to keeping the jungle full of long noses, silver coats, and the occasional monkey love story!!

We hired and drove a car to get here. It takes an hour from Sandakan or maybe 30 mins from Sepilok. The road is quite bumpy 5 mins before entrance and the roads inside are all bumpy/gravely. Lots of people had private drivers as apparently it’s tricky to get a grab back from here.

Ticket is quite expensive at 60 RM. Especially how far it is to come. You can pay by card though.

You can’t really walk between platforms you need to drive. There are 2 platforms with different feeding times. The morning times are A 9.30 B 11.30. You stay at feeding about half hour until they start to leave then you can go to other one and wait. The platform shuts later so you can’t go back.

There’s a cafe at platform B but didn’t visit.
We saw the monkeys actually walking round the car park. There’s quite a lot of monkeys that come for feeding. There’s usually 2 groups at each platform, the male group and the female group. There’s also a lot of leaf monkeys that come for the feeding and may walk around the platform but they’re all friendly.

I’d stay for the 2 feeding times then leave. The second feeding time was much busier than the first. Although the platforms are quite big you don’t need to fight for a good spot and you can move around. There’s fans which is also a plus.
