Uncle Jack is the best! He made our trek up Mount Kinabalu a super enjoyable experience. Very generous, kind and helpful. We are a family of 5 and he organised everything for us, making sure we got up and back safely and at a good price. We stayed two nights at his place, either side of our trek. It’s a nice quiet secluded place off the road but with lovely views. He really looked after us. Would recommend!

We stayed at Jungle Jack with a group of 9, and honestly… Uncle Jack is one of the nicest, warmest people you’ll ever meet in Sabah 😬 Super friendly, super welcoming — you instantly feel at home.

The place itself is clean, quiet, and super affordable. Sure, it could use a little maintenance here and there, but for the price, it’s honestly a jackpot 🎰 Plus, it’s right opposite the Mount Kinabalu entrance — just walking distance!

One tip though: if you’re coming in a van or small car (not a 4x4), don’t try driving down the hill to Uncle’s place. Our van got stuck, and we had to call a 4x4 to pull it out 😂 Lesson learned!

Uncle Jack is the sweetest person ever. He literally saved our life at 10pm when our previous hotel reservation fell through. He welcomed us with open arms and immediately called us to make sure we were doing ok when I contacted him via WhatsApp. The rooms and bathrooms are very comfortable and clean. The water is very hot!! The linens and towels smell nice. There are 2 lounge areas if you need to get some work done (the WiFi is very fast) or get your fitness on with the few weights available. There is access to water, coffee, tea, a small fridge, just make sure to wash your cup when you're done!! The place is cozy and relaxing, just a stone's throw from the entrance of Mount Kinabalu park. Do stay here and get in touch with Jack via WhatsApp. If he doesn't answer immediately, he is probably helping other guests. He also has the cheapest hiking packages in the area. Thanks for everything uncle Jack, you're an amazing human <3

Jack is the man! No better place for exploring the wild montane forests of the Mt Kinabalu Range. Convenient and excellent restaurant close by serves everything fr breakfast to dinner (latest order 07:30pm).

Jack is such a character, made our stay the best with good stories and tips - worth staying a couple of days just to explore the surroundings!

Jack picked me up from my previous failed hotel attempt and took me to the hostel where I slept like a baby! He also took me to kudansang and back to get cash - he wouldn’t accept any extra money from me for the lifts! Such a legend

Jack made our stay amazing - he’s a one of a kind guy! Walking distance to the park and to a nearby restaurant. Jack helped us with laundry (free of charge), recommended trails and helped us arrange transportation to Ranau and Sandakan - it’s in the details! Great for backpackers😍

Jack is een super behulpzame vriendelijke man. Hij helpt je graag met het regelen van vervoer, hij brengt je het nationale park gratis binnen als je daar wil wandelen. De locatie is super, het ligt letterlijk tegenover het nationale park. Daarnaast ook een restaurantje vlak naast het verblijf. We hebben hier kunnen slapen voor 50MYR per persoon per nacht, veel goedkoper dus dan andere verblijven die zo dicht bij het park zijn. Het is niet te vinden op booking of hostelworld, maar je kan hem gewoon een whatsapp sturen en dan reserveert hij je overnachting. Ik zou het 100% aanraden.

Lieu rustique, a 2 pas du park national. Super pratique pour visiter le park. Le propriétaire est très sympathique, il connaît tout le monde et peut vous aider sur tout ce qui concerne le park. Il fait aussi la montée mont kinabalu, la moins cher de la région.
