We had a 1-night staycation at Fanorama Garden Village Homestay and overall, it was a good experience. The facilities such as the BBQ spot, swimming pool, and multipurpose hall were available and covered the basics for a short getaway. The surroundings and view were truly beautiful — definitely a healing spot for a short escape.
The chalet room also has its plus points: a fridge in each room, a dressing table (meja solek), water heater, air-conditioner, and wall fan (kipas dinding). These amenities made the stay more comfortable.
However, as with many homestays, there are both pros and cons. During our stay, we experienced some challenges, especially with the water supply. We were informed beforehand that the place relies on water tanks and that we should use water wisely. We did follow the advice given, but unfortunately, by 8 AM the next morning, our chalet had completely run out of water. At one point, we had to pile water in small buckets (baldi kecil) in the toilet itself, and eventually, we even needed to use the longhouse across from us just to take showers. My parents, on the other hand, couldn’t take their showers at all because the water supply simply did not reach our chalet. This was quite inconvenient considering the price we paid.
We also noticed the swimming pool was not very well maintained the next day. The water colour did not look clear (jernih) and was slightly dirty, which made it less inviting compared to the usual pool standards. Hopefully, this can be managed better in the future.
In the chalet room itself, there were not enough hooks to hang our clothes or towels, which made things a little less convenient. Also, the floor mat (pelapik kaki) provided was not very suitable as it did not absorb water well and was quite slippery. These are not meant as criticisms but more as suggestions for improvement in the future.
Another small point is regarding rubbish disposal. While bins were provided inside the room and at the BBQ area, there were no larger bins outside the chalet itself. Having a bigger rubbish bin in front of the chalets would make it easier for guests to manage their trash, especially for bigger items.
That being said, the hospitality was warm, and the view was undeniably stunning. With some improvements to the water system and additional facilities like outdoor rubbish bins, this place could be even better. Thank you to the owner and team for hosting us, and we hope to see positive upgrades in the future!
