Wonderful view from the top. Panoramic. Access is difficult. Roughly 300m then 1.7km then 300m of footpath before actual hike. Hike was easy. The difficult part is in braining why there is plenty of rubbish. Some casual weekend warrior tend to bring lots of chips for snacking along the way..

I recently embarked on a hike to Bukit Gondol, also known locally as Bukit Botak, situated near Kampung Pugu in Lundu, Sarawak. This trail offers a unique blend of coastal scenery and moderate hiking challenges, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

Trail Overview:
• Distance: Approximately 4.3 km (2.7 miles) round trip
• Elevation Gain: Around 66 meters (217 feet)
• Difficulty: Easy to moderate; suitable for beginners with a reasonable fitness level
• Estimated Time: About 1 hour to reach the summit; total round trip takes approximately 2 hours

Getting There:

The trailhead is accessible via a scenic walk along Pugu Beach. Depending on the tide, you may need to traverse rocky sections if the beach path is submerged. It’s advisable to check tide schedules before your visit .

• Panoramic Views: The summit offers sweeping vistas of the South China Sea and the surrounding coastal landscape. The hill’s bald appearance, devoid of trees, provides unobstructed views, especially during sunrise and sunset .

one of a must place visit at Lundu, seriously place that comes with beach and hills which is hiking and bath lol. Easy hiking and it is very suitable for a newbie to try doing some hikes. Overall, for real this place is unique and it is free to enter!

Beautiful beach walk before reach the hill. Make sure it's low tide as car park to foot of the hills needs 45 min-1 hour walk on beach.

Trail : Easy (Hot lit lit)☀️ , please bring drinking water & umbrella 🌂 u don't want to get burned and dehydrated right? so bring it!
Trip : 30 minutes to reach the summit of Bukit Gondol
All the way to Bukit Gondol, u need to walk along the beach, pick up the shells as your own souvenirs and enjoy the view. 😋

Nice place to go hiking. Highly recommended to hike early morning or evening. And please make sure bring your own rubbish back with you. Don't simply throw it on the top off the hill.

Bukit Gondol, Kampung Pugu at Lundu (Kuching Sarawak)
Driving from Desa Wira area took 70+ minutes. No signage at road for the beach junction, haiya.
From parking, takes another 1.5 hours to reach the top of the hill.
First, we walked along the sandy beach. After that, climb some rocks, need to be careful here as the rocks are unstable when stepped on. Finally, we climb the hill. At the hill, can get a nice view of the sea.
I drank less than 1.5 litre of water. Most of the route is unshaded, hence hat is a must. Highly recommended to bring umbrella, sunscreen lotion, long sleeves and hand fans due to sun. To avoid the heat, the hiking should start as early as possible.
Glove may be useful especially when going through the rocks.
Suggest to wear long pantsto prevent scratches from the bushes at the hill.

Great place to hike with all the views. This place is secluded so you need to park quite a distance and walk along the beach. Not recommended to go during afternoon time as it get really hot and very few shady places.
