Atelier Hotel Abiad Johor Bahru is a boutique property which was newly opened on 20 Dec 24. This is the second Atelier Hotel, which is not far from its first property, also in Taman Pelangi. I had stayed in the latter last year (Refer to my Google review). Comparing the two, this property has a better location, given that it is nearer to KSL City Mall, which is a 15mins (950m) walk away. The hotel design and aesthetics carry the same feel as the first Atelier Hotel. If you enjoy your stay at the original hotel, you will love this Abiad property. ||I had booked the Standard King Room and was accommodated in Room No. 109 at the back of the building. The room measures 17 square metres and is comfortable for two guests. It offers a window, but there is no fancy view as it overlooks an alley with a row of residential houses. I noticed many rooms are overlooking the building interior. I believed there are also some rooms without a window. So, I guessed I was lucky to at least get a view of this alley. I am pleased the room is quiet with no traffic noise. However, the room has a poor insulation which I could hear occasional noises coming from the housekeeping staff and guests at the room corridor. Nevertheless, it did not bother me very much.||The room has a flat-screen TV which offers YouTube and Netflix. For travellers who have multiple electronic gadgets, you will be delighted to know there is a total of three universal power sockets and six USB charging ports in the room. The bathroom is a little small. I wished the shower pressure was a little stronger, though it was still acceptable. You need to turn on the water heater switch outside the bathroom to enjoy a hot shower.||When you head to the third level, you will see a rooftop garden where you can enjoy a view of the city surroundings.||The hotel is conveniently located to many amenities such as convenience stores, local eateries, massage centres and bakeries. The nearest mall is Plaza Pelangi at 450m away. It is an IT mall with some F&B outlets and a Mercato supermarket.||If you are a budget traveller from Singapore and plan to take a bus, you can board myBAS T11, T14 and T20 from JB Sentral. Alight at the bus stop opposite Plaza Pelangi and take a 600m walk to the hotel. The bus fare is RM1.40 per person.||Tip: If you prefer a window room at the front of the building which overlooks the road, you will need pay a little more by booking a Suite. This room category is bigger and offers a bathtub.

I recently stayed at Atelier Hotel Johor Bahru, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with some pros and cons.The room design is stylish, modern, and minimalist, with a comfortable bed and a cozy ambiance. I appreciated the environmentally friendly approach, especially the refillable water bottles provided instead of single-use plastic—great for sustainability.One downside is the lack of soundproofing. You can hear noises from neighboring rooms and sounds from the pipes, which might be an issue for light sleepers.The location is excellent—just a short distance from Plaza Pelangi and KSL Mall, making it convenient for shopping and dining. There are plenty of food options around, and the hotel even provides recommendations on nearby eateries, which was a nice touch.Overall, it’s a great option for those who value modern design and convenience, but if you’re sensitive to noise, you may want to bring earplugs!

location is great, 7-11 & pharmacy nearby. room itself is small but good use of space, bed was comfy! overall room was clean, but toilet had a weird musty/sewage smell from the moment we checked in and even after airing the room & turning on the fan, after sleeping overnight with the lights off (and toilet fan since they’re connected) we woke up to the toilet emanating that super horrible smell again 😭 also for some reason the floor was really sticky? not sure if it’s because the water vapour from the toilet has nowhere to go - overall it’s alright for a short trip (1-2N), but don’t think we’d be able to deal with the toilet any longer than that

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Atelier, and it was an outstanding experience! The hotel boasts a fantastic location, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area.

One of the standout aspects was the cleanliness — every corner of the property was impeccably maintained, from the rooms to the common areas. It’s clear that the management takes great pride in keeping the space spotless and inviting.

The staff were friendly and professional, always ready to assist with any request, which added to the overall positive experience.

I highly recommend Atelier for anyone looking for a comfortable and well-located place to stay. I would happily return on my next visit!

Many eateries nearby to visit. Interior design is well thought out and provides a comforting feel. Hotel room is clean and well kept. Many amenities are available in the room and there is a mini bar at the lobby. Hotel staff are polite here and try their best to help you with any issues you may face. The hotel is still doing some touch ups so do expect some noise mid day. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely come back😊.

Hear me out with the mixed review. I booked the place via trip.com and paid beforehand. A few days later I got a message from trip.com saying that my room has been upgraded to their new outlet which is at Abiad. So I just went ahead and didn't go and confirmed it. Fast forward to the actual day, it was raining heavily and we managed to book a grab to this destination. Upon arrival we were told that our room is at the old outlet, not Abiad. Mind you we were very exhausted and would like to have a smooth check in. It took us nearly an hour to work this out. Turns out the night shift receptionist sent the message wrongly. This is unacceptable to me as there were so many days for them to double check all their bookings and none of their staff did and inform us. We had to sit on another grab and grab to the old outlet. There was no compensation for the time wasted. It may sound like I'm entitled but mind you it was raining heavily and we were exhausted.
No doubt it was great for value.

This is a new hotel. I went to the other hotel at first as this hotel was not on the map yet so you have to key in the address. When I ordered food it got delivered to the other hotel so don't make the same mistake. Everything in the room is new. The bed is comfortable. Good size for 1 pax or a couple. The amenities are sufficient. The only thing is that the wall is a bit thin so you can hear people outside talking or music playing. This doesn't bother me much since I prefer some noise than silence. I like how they provide bottles for you to fill in water on the ground floor. This is better than providing drinking water bottles, which not only doesn't taste nice but waste plastic. Location wise, it is close to ksl, 15 mins to mid valley mall. I wouldn't mind staying here again.

New building with modern facilities at a reasonable price. The location is great—quiet yet close to many establishments, making it a convenient find. My only issue was that they combined two single beds to make a king bed, which wasn’t very comfortable. But overall, I still give it five stars!
