This time tried this famous authentic sarawak restaurant. Ordered :
1. Lepau signature itun uvek fried: the fried rice served in green colour because they used tapioca leaves. Fragrant, unique, and tasty
2. Lepau signature spicy bunga kantan fried:spicy and fragrant. I think they used kecombrang on the fried rice
3. Panduh chicken: a little bit bland for my tongue, and the texture not really my type, but its okay maybe its just my preference.
4. Midin garlic: tasty. They midin itself has some crunchy texture, and the spices they used given some fragrant on the dish

Overall, nice place to come. The waitress is also nice and informative. The ambiance was good, it's like you're coming to the dayak place. The price is so so.

This eatery place is always packed with customers. I went on Friday night and it’s already fully booked. Then, I made a reservation for 8.30 pm slot.

If you are planning to come here and have a short stay in Kuching, make a booking earlier so that you can enjoy the cuisines.

We came and ordered at the table. The waiter explained about the menu. Many diners already made their orders in advance, so we missed the chance to their the purple bario rice. But that’s okay.

Of course, we ordered the ayam pansuh and fish umai and few side dishes. And also ice cream with tapai pulut.

The waiter also recommended calamari and tempoyak with anchovies.

I would saya the tempoyak has a distinct flavor because they cooked the durian paste and add onions and fried anchovies.

Overall, we are satisfied.

We ordered few drinks on the menu such as air bandung, teh C special and wheatgrass. Though I feel that, it will be better to enjoy your menu with a plain water or chinese tea instead. But thats all depends on preference.

My favourite dish was hands down the terung asam prawn dish - prawns were fresh and plump, the dish was unlike anything I’ve tried over on the Semenanjung side. Beef was decent, loved the garlic midin which had plenty of wokhei and crunch. Ayam pansuh was interesting but would appeal to those with a milder palate, personally I think it’s a slightly more flavourful version of the Chinese watercress soup with really tender chicken.

It seemed to be impossible to get a table without prior reservation (at least over the weekend), parking is easy, and beware of the mozzies as it’s half open. Would be glad to return!

Big thanks to Fendy for the recommendations, i definitely enjoyed my lunch here, very nice and unique Sarawakian food.

Just 2 suggestions, this place can get very hot during lunch time I will suggest them to work on better ventilation system if possible especially outdoor. I also hope they can do smaller portion for single pax like me to enjoy more dishes!

This was my second visit here, coming with the same excitement and expectation I had during my first visit back in November 2024. That first experience was truly amazing — the food was memorable and left a lasting impression, especially the bunga kantan pusu and ubi tepus.
So this time, I decided to bring my sister along to try them. We arrived around 12:30 PM, and I ordered the same dishes… only to be told they were sold out. That was quite disappointing. I also tried ordering the rice wrapped in leaves, but that too was unavailable — and I was informed that such items should be pre-ordered. It would have been helpful if this was mentioned when making the reservation via WhatsApp.
We ended up ordering other dishes instead — ayam pansuh, which unfortunately lacked the same flavor and punch I remembered, ikan assam with terung assam that didn’t quite meet expectations, and midin, which I found rather pricey for the portion.
To add, we were told the pandan lemongrass tea (served in a kettle) was refillable, but later discovered there was a charge for the refill — which was confusing.
Overall, this visit didn’t quite live up to the wonderful first experience I had, and I left feeling a little disappointed. Total bill for the food was rm119. Mahal nak mampui

First time trying Sarawakian food — I’d rate the overall experience a 8/10.
What truly stood out to me, though, was the service from a waiter named Fendi. He was incredibly attentive and detailed when recommending dishes from the menu. Not only was the food good, but Fendi took the time to understand how many of us were dining, what my kids might enjoy, and whether certain dishes (like fish or vegetables) might be too strong in flavor.

I was genuinely touched by his thoughtful service it made the whole meal feel more special. Thanks to him, everything we ordered turned out well. Great job, Fendi!

I really enjoyed the traditional food here — it’s delicious, and the ambience is warm and pleasant. I enjoy service by FENDY 😻 he’s friendly and well manner. But i dispointed with one girl serving the fruit platter, she gives the fruit to fendy with unpleasant expression. RECOMMENDED RESTAURANT!!!

Basically is down to your personal preference. Personally for me is above average. Food is fresh & certain food needs to be order in advance. Anyways please make reservation via their WhatsApp number. Don’t walk in ya.
