Nice hotel located on the banks of the Melinau River, right on the edge of the Gunung Mulu National Park.

During the couple of days when we were there it rained an awful lot, limiting our time spent outdoors. The rooms are very comfortable, and the airconditioning works well, which is important given the high temperatures and humidity in the vicinity.

There is no WiFi in the rooms, but access to the Internet is available in the main building.

The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport and the National Park. The latter is about 10 minutes from the hotel, and is an easy walk too.

We were very happy with the breakfast buffet that offered a decent selection of food, as did the evening buffet. The night we ate there, we were particularly impressed with the beef rendang.

My one criticism would be that there were very few (if any?) porters available to help with getting our luggage to and from our room. This was at least one hundred metres from the main building and then up two flights of steps. Rather than anyone assisting us with our luggage, we were shown to our room by a young lady, dressed in a traditional costume. Some less able guests would clearly struggle with moving their luggage along the various wooden walkways and up any stairs. I'm sure that the hotel would offer assistance in these instances, but it would be nice for such a service to be widely available, regardless.

Another wonderful stay at the Marriott Mulu. Excellent service by CJ, JJ and Olivia at reception. Such professional and caring people. One feels very well looked after. All staff were of the same high standard. My only concern is the noise from the generator and air conditioning compressors. The resort is set in a beautiful rainforest near the river. Machine noise definitely detracts from the ambience. I was pleased that the food has improved from my last visit and is now more than acceptable. The spa delivers a truly relaxing experience and the therapists were very good. I am not sure of the names of the therapists but perhaps Eleni and another Olivia. Anyway, they were superb. Already planning a repeat visit to this unique and very special resort.

A Superb Hotel in an Unbeatable Location
We chose the Mulu Marriott on a recent trip, and it was the perfect choice for our stay. The location is just fantastic, right on the river, making you feel deep in the rainforest. One of the best things was the free shuttle they run to the park entrance; made everything completely stress-free.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the facilities are great. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had an amazing view from the balcony. It was the perfect place to come back to after a long day of walking. The pool was another highlight—always clean and quiet. We were also really impressed with the restaurant. The food was delicious, and it was a pleasant surprise to see plenty of really good vegan and vegetarian options.
Honestly though, the best part about this hotel is the staff. They were absolutely brilliant. Every single person we dealt with was polite, friendly, and always on hand to help without ever being intrusive. You can tell they take real pride in what they do, and the hotel should be incredibly proud of the team they have. They are what makes this place truly special. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Marriott for a couple of nights and can overall recommend a stay in Mulu. The national park is beautiful but quite remote. Our flight was canceled both when arriving and departing. The hotel kindly did not charge us for the first night, as they are accustomed to such situations, but it certainly complicates planning and adds some stress to the trip.

The hotel itself was pleasant, featuring a nice pool area and a buffet. However, the buffet wasn't always super fresh, and during my massage, I noticed that some parts of the spa were not well maintained (such as the restroom). Additionally, the masseuse was inexperienced, making it one of my least favorite massages, especially considering it was relatively expensive for Malaysia.

Overall, while you pay a bit more, you get a nice Western environment. They provide shuttle services everywhere, and considering its five-star rating, it’s not overly expensive either. I can recommend a stay.

Excellent 5* resort. Perfect for families or travellers looking for a rest. As my boys are 6 and 8 years old, we couldn't spend all day hiking, we needed to have some downtime, which was perfect by the pool or chilling in their tea area. Great live music in the evening too. The boys loved the buffet for breakfast and dinner!

The Mulu Park speaks for itself, it's a great place to explore and adventure.

We had such a memorable family getaway at the Mulu Marriott, surrounded by the beauty of the rainforest and the warmth of the team who truly went above and beyond for us.||One of the highlights of our stay was how accommodating everyone was when our original tour was affected by rain and a delayed flight. The staff immediately rearranged everything for the following day without any hassle, ensuring we didn’t miss out on the experience a level of service that really stood out.||The resort itself is beautiful, with comfortable rooms and lovely surroundings, but what really made our stay so special were the people. A big thank you to Julia and Casandra, who were so welcoming and attentive throughout. We also deeply appreciated Chef Kristen and Radzi, who made sure the buffet meals were both delicious and varied we genuinely looked forward to every dining experience.||Special mention as well to Matthew, the Food & Beverage Manager, whose professionalism and friendly approach made us feel incredibly well taken care of. His presence and attention to detail were very reassuring, especially when traveling with family.||Overall, Mulu Marriott gave us not just a stay, but an experience one filled with kindness, great food, and thoughtful service. We left with happy hearts and lasting memories and we’re already looking forward to coming back again.

A great location, with a relaxed atmosphere and lovely comfortable rooms with air con. The free transfers from the hotel to the airport and the hotel to the national park are a real plus. The only downsides are that it can be quite a long walk from reception and the restaurant to your room, which can feel very long if you are caught in one of the frequent rain showers! Also although there was a reasonable selection of food at both the breakfast and dinner buffet, quite a lot of it was tepid or warm at best, which was not ideal.
