An interesting building of historical significance but it's totally abandoned. Parts of the ceiling are falling down and it looks as if people have been sleeping rough in the old rooms.

We came to kuala lipis to check out the old colonial buildings and were delighted that we could ctually stay in one! We really enjoyed our time in kuala lipis but were a bit sad that a lot of these fantastic old buildings have not been loved as much as they could have been. The rest home inn has seen better days so if you're a bit delicate you probably won't enjoy your stay. We loved our stay in the VIP room! It was a source of much delight! 1980's nanna chic with massive lounge room and balcony!! Food from the local night market and beers tasted so much better under the stars on our balcony overlooking the town. Go with the right atitude and you'll have an amazing stay. πŸ™‚

the town of Kuala Lipis in the state of Pahang was the old administrative centre during British rule, and the state capital of Pahang. The resident's manor sits atop the highest hill in this quaint old Malayan town. built in 1922, it was the residence of Sir Hugh Clifford, the superintendent of Upper Pahang. ||||This grand old building is now the government resthouse, with a few rooms available at very reasonable rate... I consider them low, but the maintenance is also low! if you are like me, and enjoy travelling through these old towns and reliving the past, this is definitely the place to stay in Kuala Lipis.||||Don't expect much... the place is actually a bit run down, but who cares when you seek history. I stayed in the master bedroom, which is a huge room with a separate sitting room and your own private balcony which extend out over the front of the building. obviously few guests stay here, so the room is a bit musty, and for some unexplanable reason, has been decorated in royal yellow... awful! the bathroom is in need of some care... but there is hot water and air-conditioning, and even a large tv with all the satellite channels... after all, this is the VIP suite!||||at the rear of the building is a restaurant, which is open in the evenings, and is quite popular with the locals who come up the hill and sip a cup of coffee. the views of the old town are nice from this hill.
