Mandara Tree Villas - Bentong, Pahang

We had a booking at Echor Tree Villa Mandara in Dharamshala, but due to the red alert issued for Himachal Pradesh with warnings of extreme rainfall and high risk of landslides, we had to reconsider our travel plans for safety reasons.

Despite this being a genuine emergency and completely outside our control, the hotel staff showed absolutely no empathy or cooperation. We contacted them well in advance to request a rescheduling or any kind of adjustment to our booking. Instead of understanding or helping, we were met with rude behavior, dismissive responses, and a cold, unprofessional attitude.

Not once did they acknowledge the seriousness of the situation or show concern for guest safety. They were rigid with policies, refusing any flexibility or assistance even when it was a matter of natural calamity and official government alerts.

It’s disheartening to see such behavior from a hospitality provider. We were not asking for a refund—only a date change, and it would have cost them nothing to show some compassion. In times of crisis, the true character of a business is revealed, and sadly, this property failed to uphold even basic standards of guest care.

Would strongly advise against booking at Echor Tree Villa Mandara, especially if you’re traveling with family or expect even a minimum level of professionalism and empathy. There are far better properties in Himachal where guests are treated with kindness, not contempt.

Pros:
1) Cozy and strategic location, close to activity venues and mini mart
2) Wide and spacious, inside and outside
3) Water pressure good, air conditioning, ceiling fan functional, and have towel & body soap.
4) Have wifi and functioning well
5) The kitchen utilities are all well provided.
6) Have coway & microwave
7) BBQ facilities well provided
8) host quick to respond when called

Cons:
1) Lack of safety, there’s no gate and house lock does not really secure the safety
2) Lack of cleanliness.
-the sofa has blood/chocolate stained.
-towel a bit yellowish.
-dirty carpet with lots of dust
3) Need to alert with broken switch, otherwise the house will blackout
4) there’s no villa signage before entering the alley
5) Tissue were not provided in the kitchen

Nice design. If you are in big group of 6 pax and above; it'll be fun and cozy. Other than the friendly cat that is so loyal to the ground, the place can be too isolated with night life's sounds, bugs/lizards. Once you exit the small lane there are plenty of other houses nearby and eateries. Not wheelchair /OKU friendly.

Isolated place.
To be honest, the facilities little bit disappointing.
The couch a bit dirty, outdoor lighting very dim, bit difficult for late night bbq.
But the space outside the villa very huge. We even bring our own tent, made a mini campsite outdoor.
And owner/caretaker so quick responding my complaint regarding water and some facilities. The managed it very well even came late night to check on us.

Guess it is true,sometimes its not a place maybe the people.

Great facility. Overall good. Only lapse was the gas wasn't filled up. While we were cooking,the cylinder run out of gas and it took them an hour plus (the caretakers) to replace it and we weren't allowed for any late check-in for the gas shortage. It kind a jeopardized our plan and cooking activity/lunch.

When the first time we arrived, the jungle view greet us and we entered the house. The looks was sooooo amazing. I can tell that the owner got a great taste in designing the house and decorating it.

Despite of the poor telco service up there, we manage to get ourselves enjoy the moment there by having bbq, watching tv, playing cards and many more. Just take a look at all the picture below.

Overall, we satisfied with the facilities provided and its worth the value that we paid. Thanks Mandara for the hospitality!

Location will drive u wild... Right smacked in the middle of nowhere. Would b a great place for a zombie movie or a haven for those who wants privacy, Kampung style.
Do bring ur stacks of chips to munch. Basic amenities provided. There's a good size homemade barbecue grill outside too...
Great place for an escapade from bustling city life.

Fully airconditioned, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms complete with water heater units in the main house. Large compound that we could play some games such as badminton etc. Also a BBQ facility... bring your own charcoal or briquettes 😉.
