地方很chill,可是不能呆久。
没有价格,都是点了才知道。
中式酒多。
aunty儿子才不错。
aunty并没有怎样。
我带着三个孩子去。aunty说小孩可以喝汽水。我点了2瓶可乐,我问aunty可乐多少钱?aunty没有回答,思考着。他们家根本没有价格表。后来孩子不懂在哪里看到些RM4,aunty就接着说好啦就算你们RM4成本价就好。
外面很热,我们坐下来后aunty和儿子有2把风扇吹着我们后很快便凉快下来。
网络中说的aunty健谈,我到不觉得,aunty的儿子倒是那个健谈的。如果她儿子不在,就只能用cash,老人家不会。
这家店很特别,我想是中式调酒多,药材酒加一粒酸梅和冰块,儿子教我慢慢喝,体验多层次的感觉。如果我一个人没有带孩子,没有带先生(要驾车不能喝酒)是可以在这里坐着慢慢喝2,3杯,虽然不是很合我胃口的中式调酒。突然间aunty就跟我说30块,我就突然要付款。只可惜孩子可乐喝完了(天气很热的速度),我先生就一直问要走了吗,aunty竟然也是问我喝完了吗?然后抹桌子说他要出去。我就匆匆喝掉还剩一半的酒扫兴而回。
如果她儿子不在aunty的service是请你坐下开风扇罢了。我那杯酒RM18,我是可以接受这个价格,只是汽水就不能接受。我以为这是一个很chill的地方,但绝对不是。

Old-school vibes and an interesting slice of history, but unfortunately, the experience left a sour taste. The bar has no air-conditioning, which adds to the traditional charm, but it was let down by the pricing and attitude.

I was charged RM23 for a single shot, only to find the exact same liquor being sold for RM26 per bottle at a nearby mini mart. That’s a huge markup, and I couldn’t help but feel taken advantage of. What made it worse was being told I couldn’t take any photos or even a quick selfie at the stall — a strange rule, especially in a place that seems to trade on its nostalgic appeal.

I don’t mind paying a bit more to support local spots, especially ones with this kind of character. But the price felt unreasonable, and being told not to take photos really took away from the experience.

Visited an old-school bar tucked away in an unassuming part of town, run by a third-generation owner. Ordered two glasses of liquor—Lychee and Plum Nu Er Hong. The drinks were decent, with the plum flavor bringing back nostalgic vibes. It’s a great place to relax and unwind, especially if you're after a slice of tradition. The bar is actually part of the aunty's house, adding to its unique charm. Interestingly, they don’t operate at night, so it's best to visit during the day for a laid-back experience.

Dropped by here for quick drink. We tried the Nu Er Hong (unexpectedly nice) and a rose wine (super strong). Super hot weather and we were walking around jonker street drunkly after that 🥴🤣

The shop is in a quiet part of the area and we nearly missed it if not for google maps. The door was partially close too, but when we called the auntie she came out and was very friendly to us. Really unique set up, have never been anywhere else like this before. Highly recommend to drop by try it out 👍

A hundred years old, tucked in a quiet corner of Melaka, Sin Hiap Hin once doubled as an opium den. Upstairs, men smoked themselves into oblivion while downstairs, boatmen, laborers, and British officers drank hard liquor to cut the heat. The walls remember.

Don’t expect cocktails, neon lights, or mixology shows. This is a place for drinkers. The shelves carry local rice wine, Chinese herbal spirits, Indian whisky, and rough Malaccan liquor. Sweet, strong, and often dangerous—some bottles sit at 35% alcohol but taste like fruit juice. Like The Lychee and Plum brews go down easy, maybe too easy. The pours are old school too—what counts as a shot here is closer to 60ml, not the timid 30 you’ll get elsewhere.

The bar itself is a time capsule. Wooden counters, vintage measuring cups, faded bottles lined up like museum pieces. No air-con, no frills, just the slow churn of a ceiling fan. Seating is tight, maybe a dozen people at best. Prices aren’t written down, and tourists complain about being surprised after the fact. Some call it a rip-off, others call it part of the charm. Either way, it’s not a cheap buzz.

Behind the counter is Auntie—smiling, fluent in English and Mandarin, pouring drinks with a steady hand. She’s the third generation to run the place, with her son waiting in the wings as the fourth. Her warmth keeps people coming back, even if the drinks divide opinion. She doesn’t taste what she serves, but she knows her bottles like old friends. Ask her what’s good and she’ll point you toward something strange or something strong. Sometimes both.

Sin Hiap Hin closes by sundown, long before the din of Jonker Street kicks in. It isn’t trying to compete. It doesn’t need to. This is not nightlife—it’s history you can pour into a cup. A century of sweat, smoke, and spirits distilled into a bar that feels like it shouldn’t still exist, but somehow does.

For some, it’s overpriced nostalgia. For others, a rare glimpse of old Malaya. Either way, the truth is simple: places like this don’t last forever. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
